Joint statement by a coalition of authors, artists, performers and other right holders active across the EU’s cultural and creative sectors regarding the third draft of the EU AI Act’s GPAI Code of Practice. The third draft of the GPAI Code of Practice undermines objectives of the AI Act, contravenes EU law and ignores the intention of the EU legislator – we cannot support it.

Forty five MEPs, including Nikos Papandreou (S&D, Greece), address a Letter to Commissioners Henna Virkkunen and Glenn Micallef on defending the rights of artists and creators facing the challenges of generative artificial intelligence and digital platforms, on the initiative of Laurence Farreng, who, along with Marcos Ros Sempere and Bogdan Zdrojewski, co-organised the "Meet The Authors" event on 29/1, at the European Parliament, along with GESAC.

On 17 February 2025, various authors' and performers' representative organisations, including ECSA, wrote to EU Vice-President Virkkunen and Commissioner Micallef to address the shortcomings of the AI Code of Practice to ensure that authors' and performers' rights and remuneration are respected. The AI Office is currently tasked with the critical responsibility of successfully finalizing the ‘General-Purpose AI Code of Practice’ by May 2025. Read the letter below.

A new extension to the joint Cooperation Agreement was signed on January 24, 2025 by AUTODIA and the Union of Hellenic Chambers of Commerce (KEEE), which concerns the issuance of the public performance license by businesses that play music. The businesses - members of the Chambers that will agree to the agreement's terms, benefit from discounts and debt arrangements, always within the framework of mutual respect and good faith between the two entities.

EPP MEP Eleonora Meleti has tabled a question to the European Commission, asking for clear commitments to protect creators’ rights against the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the music industry. As she pointed out, the use of AI in music production poses serious risks, both for the fair remuneration of artists and for Europe’s cultural diversity, while also threatening human creativity itself.

With December 2024 Distribution, AUTODIA will have distributed a total of approximately €13,100,000 in gross royalties for the 2nd Semester of 2024 to its members - composers, songwriters, lyricists and music publishers - as well as to sister societies. Committed to distribute steadily increased royalties, the leading Greek Collective Management Organization will have distributed a total of approximately €10,600,000 in net royalties for the 2nd Semester of 2024. The amount is distributed to all rightsholders/members of the Society and is increased by 35% compared to the corresponding 2nd Semester of 2023 (approximately €7,820,000).
