During the Conference, financial data were presented regarding the overall performance of independent music publishers in the global market, while critical issues were discussed regarding the interaction between the music industry, as part of the Cultural and Creative Industries, and the rapidly developing innovative technology that seems to be undermining the rights of creators and rights holders. The AI session hosted great speakers who highlighted ways in which solidarity and cooperation in the industry can improve working conditions and revenue for human creators in the future.
MEP Brando Benefei pointed our that we need to support innovation and competition of the EU with the rest of the world, but we also need to find a balance with our creative sector. {At the moment}, there is a lot of extraction without enough recognition of the creative world. Benefei also said that "we need to use EU legislation to protect the principle of fighting piracy and sustaining quality datasets that respect the law and IP. This will be one of the most difficult points to maintain in terms of determination."
