With useful interventions, suggestions and important personal testimonies, the "Economic Sustainability" panel of the "Sustainability in Culture" Conference in the context of the 2nd CIVINET FORUM concerning the economic, social and environmental sustainability of artistic creation, organized by Civinet Greece-Cyprus, was completed yesterday in Technopolis City of Athens.
The Conference was moderated by the performer, vocalist, researcher and voice teacher Aggeliki Toubanaki. Composer and producer Christos Alexopoulos (Puzzlemusik) submitted interesting proposals for the promotion of the Greek music scene, while referring, among other things, to the talented and qualified new generation of Greek musicians coming out of the country's 45 Music Schools, as well as of the Ionian University, Corfu.
Ilianna Antoniou, AUTODIA’s Director of Communications & International Relations pointed out the crucial role that Collective Management Organizations play in the livelihood of artists, in terms of intellectual property and related rights, acting as a hub between the market and the creators. She referred to AUTODIA’s great progress, but also to its recent action as an Institutional Supporter at the 1st BlackBox Jazz Festival at the Parnassos Literary Society.
Thrasos Irinis, artistic advisor at HALF NOTE JAZZ CLUB emphasized the imperative need to change the way the Greek State perceives the management of contemporary music production in the country, while Dutch producer and manager Arlette Hovinga (That jazz Girl) described her experience regarding the search for resources for the mobility of artists she manages, especially from Eastern European and Balkan countries.
Ifigenia Diamanti (Swing in Greece, member of Swinging Europe) spoke about the economic sustainability from the overall sustainability strategy drawn up by the European Network for Swing as regards the field of people/organizers/forms/artists involved in professional development from swing dance & music.
The creator, bassist and producer Petros Klampanis (PK Music) referred to his own personal path, as an artist with an international career in the jazz music scene, who travels abroad very often to present his work and collaborate with other artists.
Finally, the composer, oud soloist and pianist Alekos Vretos gave his personal testimony, regarding his many years of artistic journey and the interaction with State cultural institutions and services, with a lot of struggle, successes but also setbacks. The panel was moderated by the journalist, radio producer and musician Constantinos Tachtsidis (Athens 9.84).
