A new tool for music users will be launched by the Organization

AUTODIA, making the most of all digital tools in disposal, will launch, by the end of the year, a new innovative platform allowing music users to get- with a few clicks and in a few minutes- the tailored public performance license for their premises. This was announced by AUTODIA’s CEO Dr. Margarita Panagiotopoulou, during the 2nd Strategic Conference on Regional Development and Social Entrepreneurship in Western Greece.

The Conference, sponsored by AUTODIA, took place on Saturday, November 20, 2021 in Agrinio and was organized by Agrinio Media and the Hellenic Institute of Entrepreneurship & Sustainable Development, under the auspices of the Ministries of Development & Investment, Environment and Agriculture, as well as of the Region of Western Greece and the Municipality of Agrinio, the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece, the Regional Union of Municipalities of Western Greece, the Chamber of Aetolia-Acarnania and the Department of Aetolia-Acarnania of TEE.

During the Conference, Dr. Margarita Panagiotopoulou delivered a speech with the title "The Collective Management of Music Rights", where she referred to the dominant position of the Organization in the market and its important role to the recovery and further development of the collective management sector in Greece after the collapse of AEPI.

In particular, she stressed the rapid development of AUTODIA in terms of commercial licensing agreements with the entire range of music users, its overwhelming market share, its rapidly growing technological infrastructure and the advanced applications for the documentation of works and for royalty collection and distribution, highlighting that it is the most reliable and internationally recognized interlocutor in its field.

In addition, Dr. Panagiotopoulou referred to the demarches made by AUTODIA to the competent Ministries, aiming at the commitment of funds in favor of CCIs and the elaboration of a detailed financing plan for them, and in particular for creators and CMOs, through European Stability Mechanisms.

AUTODIA’s CEO stressed that music royalties are a major source of livelihood -often the only one- for creators, that their work is not offered for free and that users should assign the respective royalties to the organizations representing them.

Finally, she pointed out the need to strengthen the legal framework for the operation of CMOs with the proper adoption of the Directives 2019/790 and 2019/789, which is still pending in Greece, stressing that in a recent letter to the Prime Minister, "which we co-sign with other CMOs, we request our participation in this process in a transparent and effective manner ".
