The meetings were held in the Hellenic Ministry of Culture & Sports booth and Greek participation was organized by the Performing Arts & Cinema Directorate’s Music Department, General Directorate of Contemporary Culture, at the Ministry.

The Fair is the main annual event of the international music support and development program WOMEX, based in Berlin (since 1994) and is one of the most important musical networking platforms, covering a wide range of musical genres. It is framed by a diverse program of seminars, informational events, conferences, film screenings and concerts, with the ultimate aim of promoting cultural diversity and supporting the global mobility of artists and musicians.

WOMEX took place in Lisbon for the first time, and for the second consecutive time in Portugal. This year's culturally and musically diverse event concluded with more than 3,100 music professionals (including 280 performing artists) from 113 countries, hosted more than 60 showcase artists representing 280 musicians spread across seven stages, 21 music-based documentaries, 111 speakers and mentors participated in the conference sessions and a bustling trade fair with 676 exhibiting companies with more than 260 stands and two radio studios on-site.
