Emerging AI services capable of generating complete music tracks from simple prompts are poised to consume large portions of the economy that currently sustains professional musicians.

According to a recent announcement by the Hellenic Copyright Organization (HCO) - https://opi.gr/wp-content/uploads/08_09_2025.pdf - entities without the necessary authorization from the Ministry of Culture do not have the right to manage the intellectual property rights and related rights of creators and performers, nor to issue licenses for public performance of music in restaurants, cafes, and other businesses in Greece.

AUTODIA: Royalties over €11M to creators & rightsholders

With the Distribution July 2025 (2025S1), AUTODIA will distribute a total of approximately €11.4M in gross royalties for H1 2025 to its members – composers, songwriters, authors and music publishers – as well as to sister societies. On Tuesday, July 8, the sending of payments to rightsholders began. Of the total amount, the net royalties that creators and other rightsholders will receive, amount to approximately €9M.
